Today I saw the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my entire life, I got to sit in and watch a delivery. Not Take out delivery. NO, but a live human fucking being, pushed through some poor womans oraface. I Think I'm going to be sick.

You know, right now I'm a little freaked out. In less than a month all be done with school, and another month (if I pass registry) I'll be a working medic and responsible for my actions and people's lives will be in my hands. There's a Bathroom on the Right

I had an amusing call Monday, I was in the back of the ambulance taking a nap (it’s ok as long as we answer our calls,) anyway, we get a call to a nearby nursing home for a cardiac arrest. So my partner is driving to the call while I’m in the back getting everything ready, we get to the nursing home and we pull our stretcher out with every thing loaded on to it, backboard, two large bags with our O2 meds and other stuff, portable suction, and our defibulator / monitor. We make our way to the back of the home and find the nursing staff standing around, so we kind of’ stopped and asked if the patient is a DNR (do not resuscitate). We tell them we got called for a cardiac arrest, then they tell us that it’s a respiratory distress, slightly different. Anyway I start pulling stuff off the stretcher, when I do the monitor falls off I try to catch it, this thing weighs like 10 pounds, when I go to catch it, it jams my left ring finger, and it’s still swollen and hurts to move. So that sucked, but that was the last call we ran that day, so we spent 9 hours doing nothing, just napping and riding around. And got paid for it. :p My job is so cool

Wow, almost 3 months since my last post, that should tell you how busy I’ve been. Just a little update to what’s going on: · I got WoW, (World of Warcraft for those of you not in the know) Draka realm, Arleothamp, undead rouge, Horde rules · I’m in the summer session of Paramedic school, so I’m busy with my Ambulance rides. · Got my annual raise at AMR (only like 20 cents an hour, but money is money) · Got my truck fixed, but I don’t have 5th gear · And I’m feeling more and more confident with my EMS stuff. (I can start an IV in someone’s hand bouncing down the road at 65 MPH.) · And I got a new kitten, His name is Bucky, my dog found him.

Well today I had to deal with another patient covered in crap. I always feel sorry for these nursing home patients, they are at the end of there lives usually diagnosed with dementia or some other kind of psychological disease that prevents them from knowing what’s going on around them. Witch is good I guess, if I was ever in that kind of a condition I wouldn't want to know what's happening or care. I always get a little depressed when I have to care for a nursing home patient, just to se some one in there 70's to 80's in that condition just knowing they have some wild stories they could tell you, many of which are war heroes. I remember one patient telling us about when he was in the airborne infantry, they tried to see if they could use a donkey to carry their mortars. The only problem was they couldn't get the damn animal out the door. If only some of us could have been there. Of curse there's always the contrast, when we get called to an old lady in her mid 80's still taking care of herself, and not needing to go to the hospital. That always makes me feel good, just the idea that it is possible to live your life as normal as possible up to the very end. But I digress, I'm either dealing with the smell of a fresh load in the back of a cramped truck, or I'm covered in blood. I prefer the latter, blood don't stink as bad ;)

So yea, this week is spring break woo. I slept till like 3:00 today, probably do the same tomorrow. The only problem is that there is nothing to do, I'm even off of work this week, I can't go anywhere because my mom has to use my car because her van broke down. I might end up working some night shifts to make some extra money and keep me busy or asleep, preferably the latter. Most of my friends are either at school or work so that puts a big ol' X through that idea of fun. I'll just spend a ton of time on the ol' computer like usual.

Beware Sat, Mar. 11th, 2006, 08:00 pm P-School
The only thing I don't really like about Paramedic school is I'm always doing something, I never have time to do anything fun, I don't even have time to update my LJ page. With being so busy all the time makes me appreciate my time off a little bit more, today was the first day in a while that I had time to sleep past 8:00, and it was great I slept till 2:00.
Fri, Feb. 24th, 2006, 04:16 pm Something new
You know I've learned something new in the past few weeks, it's fucking hard to start an IV in the back of and ambulance bouncing down the road at 60 MPH. It was hard enough to do it in the hospital for the first time, but once I got the hang of it I could do it in my sleep, but now they make me do it in an ambulance. It's something I just have to learn to do.
Wed, Feb. 15th, 2006, 06:37 pm Valintines day
Well this is how I spent my St. Valentines day, got up at around 3:00 am to be at work at 4:00am, when I walked into the shift room to clock in my supervisor stopped me and told me that I have to pick up a patient in Hattiesburg and take him to Houston TX. The bad thing is for these long trips there are supposed to be 3 crew members so we can take turns driving while the Paramedic tends to the patient, but there were only 2 of us. My partner drove the whole way there, so I drove the whole way home. We got back at around 11:00 pm, so I'm tired.
Well today was a good day for me, I got my first 100 this simester on an ECG quiz and I got my Palm Tungsten E2. I got a EMS field guied on it now. So I'm happy.

Well hello everybody! I'm a little new at this sort of thing, so bare with me. I finely decided to give Bloging a try, my sister has been doing this for years so I just wanted to give everybody a glimpse into the world of Andrew. So I guess I'll start off by telling who ever is interested in reading this a little about my self. I'm a 20 year old EMT currently attending Paramedic school, so I don't have much time to do anything. I play tons of computer and video games, when I have the time. I'll tell you more as this goes along, I can never think of anything to write about myself. Maybe other people could tell you more
